Student Choice Friday
Student Choice Friday: We are going to do one of the following activities tomorrow. I will let you decide. Vote via Twitter. Use #FIchoice (and @joecostal if you can). If you don't have a Twitter account, have someone in class do it for you. Voting will end tonight at 8pm. All you need to tweet is the option number.
Option 1: Watch part of The Making of Dark Side of the Moon. A fascinating documentary about the engineering, people and genius behind the album.
Option 2: Rewatch The Dark Side of Oz, making sure we fit the whole thing in this time.
Option 3: We can watch the beginning of the Wizard of Oz now that we have heard dark side over it, it may be a more revealing experience.
Option 4: Making of the Wizard of Oz documentary that gives a revealing look at the studio-era classic.

Dark Side of the Film Institute
Hey FIers -- Don't forget...Dark Side quiz tomorrow. Here is a refresher of the questions.
1. Choose a song from the album and discuss its significance to the analysis/annotation you conducted last night. In other words, how does the song evince the overall theme of the album. What emotional connections did you draw between the song and the experience of listening to the entire album.
2. Choose a dominant impression or thematic thread you found in the album. Discuss specifically how this thread came across in certain songs, lyrics, or motifs.

Tuesday Film Assignment: Beatles and Motion-makers
The Beatles Sgt. Pepper album annotation assignment.
Your annotations should focus on the music as part of a larger unit -- the album, or more specifically, the concept album. Consider the following:
1. Is there a thematic thread that runs throughout the songs of the album?
2. Are there dominant images that run throughout the album? If so, what are they?
3. In what ways do you think the album is innovative or progressive?
4. What emotional responses did you find yourself having while listening to the album.
