The World Forgetting by the World Forgot

Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind...

A movie that the film institute students MUST watch because of its use of amazing camera work by Michel Gondry and probably the most creative storyline i have ever watched. This screenplay was written by Charlie Kaufman. I must say everytime i watch this movie i catch a new thing that is important to the storyline, ESOTSM uses science fiction to explore the life of Joel Barrishe's(Jim Carrey) memory and love life. i found the URL for my number one movie!!! this site has some cool things in it. look through everything...

  1. Yes yes yes! And also see The Science of Sleep if you like Eternal Sunshine. They're both directed by Michel Gondry and are amazing films.

  2. I lovelovelove 'The Science of Sleep'! and I lovelovelove Gael GarcĂa Bernal! yommm^-^
...but I can honestly say that I tried way too hard to make myself love that movie; my expectations for it were so high before it came out, that when it finally did it was kind of a let down.. but after watching it about a bagillion times, I have fully learned to appreciate every aspect of it.

Another thing, I have seen every second of 'Eternal Sunshine..' and I own the dvd, but I have never seen the entire movie as a whole.. The first part I ever saw was a scene when Jim Carrey's memory begins to fade and no one has faces and I started buggin'! So, point being, I never truly finished the movie): I am so ashamed...

Remember that question from the survey we took in the beginning of the year?: If I were to pick one movie to watch and discuss in class it would (and should) be '2001'.

Alsooo... Is anyone bringing goods for Friday's festivities? And is there any way for us to get hot water??

yay phils!! can you dig it??

  4. I couldn't resist commenting on this movie, even if I feel like an intruder in this year's film institute. I adore this movie...everything about it is perfect. Eternal Sunshine is actually the reason I'm on this blog at all. Without it, I would never have left my previous boyfriend for Joe Rock, married him, and moved to South Jersey. Costal would never have been able to yell at me on my first day of subbing and Widdy would never have taught me "Name that Fish." In short, I'd be miserable.

  5. I actually enjoyed this movie but I will NEVER watch it again. Why? Because the repressed memory scenes are just too disturbing. Particularly the scene where the young Jim Carrey and his friends are killing Mrs. Bird as Mr. Bird flails around helplessly. Horrible. That scene ruined my mood for, like, two days. Ridiculous? Maybe. But it's the truth.

  6. I have yet to see either movie, and I would really, really, really like to watch it, break it down, and study it. It just seems like the kind of movie you could really learn something from. And what else do we do in The Film Institute besides watch movies? Lol

    Rock, you’re so cool =)

  7. "Eternal Sunshine" goes right up there in my top 10 favorite films of all time.
I remember being up VERY early one morning 2 summers ago, finding it on demand, and deciding to watch it to kill a few hours.
What that movie left me with...was just incredible. I was practically speechless.
Everything from the storyline, to the amazing cinematography, is perfect.
Jim Carrey gave, I believe, his best performance to date.
Kate Winslet is spectacular in anything you put her in, and I believe she really steals the movie.
So, YES, we definitely should watch "ESOTSM"...
