What is your favorite Film Institute Memory?

I know most of you are only half into your film institute memories, but you still probably have many wonderful memories. Lets talk about some of our favorite stories.

I recall, on a sunny mild day in May of 2008 we were playing Costal's elaborate and infamous Disney game. We were in the final part of the game where the teams bid the points for the final question. My team was in the lead but we were feeling saucy so we put all our points on the line. The question was, "What famous person starred in the Disney 3-d show Captain EO showed in the Disney theme parks?" I don't know how I remembered it, I saw it when I went to Disney land when I was 6, but I knew the answer. I looked Bill Smallwood in the eye with a serious look and with a cut the red wire type disposition i say, "Micheal Jackson" My team laughs, the room laughs but I remain serious and say,"Its Micheal Jackson. Say Micheal Jackson, Bill." And we won.

Whats your Film Institute story?

  1. OH GOD, I remember that! :) <3

I'm pretty sure my favorite memory from Film Institute is when we all watched Night of The Living Dead [SPOILERS: You might not want to read this if you haven't seen the movie yet] and right in the middle of the film, Weisback says, "Oh, by the way, there's someone in the basement." The whole class moans and says something like, "Weisback you ruined it!" and Weisback replies, "Don't worry, it's not a zombie."

Not one of the funniest things that ever happened, but this one sticks out in my mind for some reason.

  3. Everyone was in the DLL this day for some reason, but Costal and Weisback both came in late and were talking to each other as they came in. Costal wasn't paying attention to where he was going apparently, and tripped over one of the smartboard's legs. He stumbles a couple of feet and manages to keep from falling. There was this pause and a silence before Costal turned to us and said "ACTING."

  4. good times!
Another goodtime was Costal's impression of Jimmy Stewart working at a McCdonalds not too many people witnessed it but I filmed it and I have the raw somewhere. I think it was when we were doing documentaries.

  5. lol....love it. My favorite memory was the day of the "heart to heart" that changed the outlook of our whole year. It was such a debacle, but it really made us grow. Plus I loved yelling "Meggggan." And wearing fake mustaches whenever we had an important meeting. Like remember when we wore them to the Senior Luncheon?

  6. If you can find the Jimmy Stewart thing Armando, I would love to see it!

I have a recording of Costal singing on my documentary tape. He was talking about how he sings in his car, and then busts out in "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood. The tape should be somewhere in the media studio. ;D

  8. Oh the mustache event was the best. I tell that story every time I let my facial hair get a little wild. I didn't shave my facial hair all winter break because of that.

I loved the one time Costal was try to set something up and we were all being wild and crazy while Weisback was just yelling "bastard in a basket. While all the mayhem was going on Mr. Reina just pops in for a little visit says a few words and leaves. Then Costal turns to us after we have all settled down and starts telling us everything that I've just written and ends on the note, "You guys are lucky Reina likes us."

Talking about Reina, I still loved how without fail he always would appear when we were watching Star Wars and just start quoting with the movie.

  10. This was by far the greatest link on this blog. I loved reading all these memories...This is such a great group!

Speaking of Night of The Living Dead, the first time I met Mr. Weisback, he was well.......a mummy. I didn't know what he actually looked like. :) The next day when he said hello, I had no idea who he was.

I also have to say that Mr. Costal does the best impression of Jimmy Stewart from "Its A Wonderful Life" I have ever heard!

Hmmm Carrie Underwood? Can I hear that documentary tape Lauren? You never know when that could come in handy....

  11. How could I have forgot about the squirrels! I have them hanging up in my dorm and I complete forgot about that! It was one of the most ridiculous things I did all of High School and I did a fair amount of ridiculous things.

  12. Weisback, I don’t think you need to worry about spoiling the movies for this year’s class, I have the covered...

I might as well add my favorite memory to this list because I know nothing will ever top this.

We were watching Night of the Hunter and Costal mentioned something about how the bad guy had killed the first widow but no one knew about it in the town. Before he could continue the fire alarm sounded and we all piled outside in a less than orderly fashion. After standing outside wasting precious minutes we all piled back inside and continued with what we were doing before. Before Costal put the movie back on I was like "wait, I have a question" "Yes Brit?" said costal "Has anyone in the town realized that he killed the widow." All of a sudden costal screams "THANKS BRITTANY! You're that guy! You're the guy who ruined that sixth sense for everyone! You were the guy that was screaming during the Sixth Sense 'He's a Ghost! He's dead!’ You're that jerk." The entire class goes into an uproar and doesn’t settle down for quite some time. For the rest of the movie Costal would throw a glance at me and shake his head.

I will never forget that, ever, and nothing could ever top that....

As far as I know anyway

  15. one memory that sticks out is when we were playing psychiatrist and we decided that if mr reina were to walk in we would start discussing something film related that made it seem like we were doing something important and vital to the class. of course, in the middle of the game, reina walks in and we were all just like, "uhhh i like movies." such a smart bunch... we really handled ourselves well under pressure!

  16. Brit, I didn't call you a jerk. It was funny though.
