I actually had Burger King for the first time in my life yesterday. Alexis Duble made me eat some type of burger, it weighed like ten pounds. It was delicious(!!!). I'll probably never go there again though.
I personally thought this was an excellent anthropological idea. I mean granted they like skipped out on a lot and are just aiming to sell burgers but it was an interesting idea. I mean plenty had no preference and the one man said he rather eat seal. So there are plenty who were probably disgusted but due to who their cultures garner respect so highly, they wouldn't say that they hated our American fast food and chose no preference.
Paul brings up a very interesting point. The whole respect thing in other cultures is evident in the commercial. They never showed signs of disgust or anything like that, while on Fear Factor some of the things on the show are other cultures' delicacies. The contestants often wince and puke. I'm not saying Americans lack respect, the commercial is a very good example of the subjectiveness of beliefs with different cultures. I'm pretty sure the Burger King didn't have this in mind though. Not looking into it too much it was good marketing. Cass I love ya but i don't think burger king is tainting these foreign countries, these people probably won't have a burger again. At some points it seems like it may exploit these people but on other hand this experimentation and research seems very interesting. If I ever have the chance I'd like to do more experiments like this to study how cultures can integrate to customs that may be strange. Don't worry i don't think the Burger King won't terrorize these towns by building his castles of grease and drive throughs.

What they don't show are the people getting sick from eating food that's covered in grease and fat and god knows what.
