To put things in cereal terms: Futurama is Rice Krispies, The Simpsons is like Lucky Charms. With Rice Krispies every time you take a bite you know what you're gonna get, you're never disappointed, but it never completely blows you away. The Simpsons on the other hand, every bite is different. There are some bites where you're like, "Aww What? That's just cardboard!" but then there are some bites where its like "HOLY SH** MARSHMALLOWS! SWEET JESUS THIS IS AMAZING!"
I don't really feel like Futurama ever really got bad at any point, but it was also never genius. While I don't feel the Simpsons has been on the top of its game the last couple years, it still has created some definate Marshmallow moments you can never forget. I mean who can forget Mr. Plow, the Stonecutters, or the infamous Who Shot Mr. Burns mystery?
agree with armani and costal, simpsons hands down... i was always excited for the simpsons next new episode or even repeats, futurama is good, but i've used futurama when i get bored at 9:30 at night
Either way you're comparing two genius works by Matt Groening. So which one is more genius? ok.
The Simpsons seasons 1-9 were phenomenal. I could see, and in fact would agree with, an argument that Futurama is a better show then any The Simpsons episode in recent memory. They have really lost some of their most appealing qualities in my eyes.
That being said, if anyone were to say that Futurama was better than The Simpsons golden years(1-9), that person should be removed immediately of their opinion entitlement and enroled in a "Simpsons Appreciation Course".
Futurama, but goddamn that show gets me depressed.
ReplyDeleteNone of us will ever live long enough to see what life is like that far in the future ):

ReplyDeleteIs this for real? The Simpsons is the greatest show in the history of television.

i can't believe this is even a question. Without The Simpsons would Futurama exist?
ReplyDeleteI like Futurama, but the Simpsons will always be number one in my book.
