I LOVE this!
ReplyDeleteExcellent job!!
is that neil bellinger?
ReplyDeleteIt's beautifully lit...really...top-notch. the colors are vibrant. The shading adds atmosphere. The acting is very good. The writing is good. Some of the cuts are jumpy. But I must say...I don't get it. I know what the word quietus means, and I know it has a similar connotation, but is that it? Or did you intend something I simply missed.
ReplyDeleteThank You! Yes, that is Neal Bellinger. Neal's character is suppose to represent death waiting for Drew's character, Stan, to pretty much die. As sen in the beginning man is leaving the park taking money out of a wallet. This man has stabbed Stan. When Death ask Stan how do you feel, this is when Stan's suppose to come to realize his death. You can say the spider conversation is suspended in time. Basically this is about Death guiding a soul to another life. But more so it represents how death creeps up on people. It can happen fast and unexpectedly. Drew's line is, "I'm only 23, it's not time to start looking back now," in reply to Death's question to his regrets. You can be only 23 and just die like that. One minute a complete stranger is talking about crazy thoughts of space spiders and then your dead. The ambiguity and confusion of the scene brings up the same ambiguity and confusion of what happens after death. I think where I failed in the screenplay was putting forward that drew was dead. I think more clues was needed. The transition from the conversation to the Stan being dead part may be too fast. I also tried capturing the awkwardness of strangers in the beginning. I wanted a weird feeling to be present throughout the film to give a surreal feel to death. Its no Sundance ready film but it was experimental and me stepping away from my straight forward stories I've done in the past.
ReplyDeleteI read what Armando had written about the storyline first, then watched it and I do have to say I was still a bit confused; the second time is the best watch! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm too much of a Drew fan to turn this down.
>too much of a drew fan
ReplyDeletewhat
Hahaha. yes. So I'd definately rather sit here in Stock Market and see another video and read up on what James had to say..
ReplyDeleteBut yes drew, I'm a fan.
Didn't Fiona tell you?
The Ground itself is a fan of Drew...
ReplyDeleteYes. My favorite is him as Moses, and Paul, I do have to say that you make a smashing Jesus.
ReplyDeleteI really liked it! I had to watch it a few times to really grasp the full meaning, but once it clicked I thought it was very good. both of them are good actors and fit the roles perfectly. I didn't even know Neal was into the acting scene.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Costal, the lighting and atmosphere really made the movie. great cinematography.
yes but
ReplyDeletewho are you, ground?
