Reading Assignments for Genocide Celebration Weekend

'Tis the season to be going to the movies. The award movie season opened with the Toronto Film Festival. A great primer for the "movies to watch" this awards season is Roger Ebert's journal from the festival, conveniently linked in five easy installments below:

Maybe this will influence your movie-buying dollar this weekend, or at very least, give you a jump on "The Game," which I hope to get off the ground by next week.

Further, we will read our first piece of fiction for the year...it's a short story by Shirley Jackson from 1948 called "The Lottery." If you have read it...great...experience it again. If not...it's a must read. Please also use the study questions at the end to guide Journal #6, which should answer one or more of the provided inquiries.

Be prepared to discuss all of this on Tuesday! Ciao!
